Simple & Quick Apple Tart

When you think you don’t have time to bake you just might. Maybe. But this recipe really takes all the excuses away because if you have 15 minutes you can make this. I love this  recipe because I feel accomplished like I baked something beautiful but then maybe feel a little guilty because it was so quick and easy it can’t possibly be  baking.

This tart is like baking an apple pie without all the work and it tastes just as yummy and looks just as pretty.

And one recipe makes 3 tarts, 2 for you and you still have 1 impressive tart to share elsewhere.  And it’s OK if you eat a whole tart yourself because saying you ate a tart sounds a whole lot more appropriate and reasonable than saying you ate a pie.

This recipe uses store bought puff pastry,  apples,  a delicious mix of sugar, cinnamon topped with a bit of butter before baking and finally sprinkled with some powdered sugar.

I prefer using Cortland apples for baking, they are a bit tart and juicy.  Granny Smith is another good option for baking.

There’s nothing quite as tasty as fluffy, buttery puff pastry right out of the oven.

So next time you are short on time and need to bake something don’t forget about this easy apple pie alternative.  I hope you enjoy this fall recipe as much as I do!

The hardest part in preparing this is cutting up the apples. If you master that you can put this together in under 10 minutes. You can cut the puff pastry into 2 pieces instead of 3 if you prefer. This will make 2 larger tarts with more puff pastry on the edges.

  • ½ stick of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp of salt

  4. Mix the sugar, cinnamon and salt in a bowl.
  5. Toss the apples in the mixture and make sure they are covered well.
  6. Let sit for a few minutes.
  7. Place apples in a line down the puff pastry so they are overlapping a bit.
